Introducing VUhoops.com v2.0
Over the past few weeks, we've been working on upgrading VUhoops.com. The changes include a much cleaner interface for easier viewing.
We'll also be able to have multiple pages of popular information like recruiting and statistics. Throw in the fact that you won't need to worry about blogspot anymore in the URL, and we are very excited for the 2008-09 season.
If your bookmarks are set to vuhoops.blogspot.com, you can just set it to VUhoops.com now
So sit back, and enjoy.
If you subscribe to this feed, the new RSS address is http://vuhoops.com/?feed=rss2
If you use iGoogle or Google reader, this is for you...
If you use MyYahoo! click here and add this URL- http://vuhoops.com/?feed=rss2
Never heard of RSS? We’ll forgive you.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a technology that allows you to read a “feed” from your favorite site without the need for a browser. The “feed” is usually a brief summary of what is on the site, often even without images.
Even though you don’t need your browser, you’ll still need an “RSS reader”. These readers can be dedicated programs for your PC, they can be pocket applications for your mobile phone, or they be web applications (like Google Reader).
If you’ve never heard of RSS, it’s most likely that you also don’t have an RSS reader (though if you use Mozilla Firefox or Thunderbird you’d have one without knowing).
Next time you visit a web site, look for a link to the “RSS feed” or click on the RSS logo (seen here on the left) usually found somewhere on their site.
Villanova Recruits at the NBA Top 100 Camp
The University of Virginia is hosting the NBA's Top 100 Camp, which features (interestingly) over 110 of the nation's high school players.
Verbal Commit Maalik Wayns is in attendance along with these other known Villanova recruits:
- Dominic Cheek
- Maalik Wayns
- Dalton Pepper
- Dante Taylor
- Terrell Vinson
The Camp's preview by Bob Gibbons.
Cassiem Drummond- 'One Step At A Time'
Check out for the newest article in the Nova Notebook about rising Junior Cassiem Drummond's ankle injury.
Some quotes:
"I'm fine," [Drummond] states. "I'm just anxious to get back to
playing basketball. It's been a long time.""They're saying September," Drummond says, "but the doctor has said that if everything goes right, it could be as early as August."
Recruiting James Bell (Class of 2010)
3 weeks ago we brought the name of James Bell, a 6'4" 2-Guard from Florida, up. Rumors have it that he was on campus yesterday and is very close to committing to Jay Wright and Villanova.
This kid is a monster athlete complete with a very good skill package.
Plays above the rim, dunks over people, hit deep jumpers, and can handle the
rock. WOW! Has to be considered and Elite prospect at this point.

Future Out of Conference Games
There were rumors that Villanova was attempting to schedule a "Home and Home" with North Carolina for the 2008-09 and 09-10 seasons but that really never materialized.
'Nova was closer to inking a game in this upcoming season with Duke to be played at either the Meadowlands or at Madison Square Garden. Rumors have it that after the Blue Demons saw how well Villanova travels and draws in New York City (reference the St. John's game this year), that it really wouldn't be a neutral court game for the Durham squad.
Besides the traditional Big 5 opponents, the 2008-09 Season will see Villanova playing in the Philadelphia Basketball Tournament where the initial games that could include Canisius or Niagara would be at The Pavilion with the Final Game at the Plaestra.
Villanova will also be appearing in the Jimmy V. Classic at Madison Square Garden with a likely matchup against the University of Michigan or Gonzaga.
Looking a further 17 months ahead, Villanova will be playing in Puerto Rico in the 2009-10 season and will try to make it out to play in Southern California.
